父ちゃんは時給いくらで働いているの？

先日、こんな記事をFacebookでシェアしている方がいました。

訳して！って言われたので、えいやで訳しましたｗ

SON: “Daddy, may I ask you a question?”
DAD: “Yeah sure, what is it?”
SON: “Daddy, how much do you make an hour?”
DAD: “That’s none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?”
SON: “I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?”
DAD: “If you must know, I make $100 an hour.”
SON: “Oh! (With his head down).
SON: “Daddy, may I please borrow $50?”
The father was furious.
DAD: “If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior.”

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy’s questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think:
Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $ 50 and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door.

DAD: “Are you asleep, son?”

SON: “No daddy, I’m awake”.
DAD: “I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier. It’s been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here’s the $50 you asked for.”

The little boy sat straight up, smiling.
SON: “Oh, thank you daddy!”
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

DAD: “Why do you want more money if you already have some?”

SON: “Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do.

“Daddy, I have $100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.”
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness. It’s just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $100 worth of your time with someone you love? If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family and friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family.

Some things are more important.

息子: “とーちゃん、いっこ聞いていい？”
父: “もちろん、なんだい？”
息子: “とーちゃんの時給っていくらなの？”
父: “おまいにゃ関係ねーだろ。なんでそんなこと聞くんだ？”
息子: “ただ、知りたかったんだよ。教えてよ、時給いくらなの？”
父: “そんなに知りたいなら、教えてやるよ。100ドルだよ。”
息子: “まじか！！！（落胆の表情）
息子: “とーちゃん、50ドル貸してくれないかな？”
父は怒った。
父: “お前がくだらないおもちゃとか無意味な物を買うために金を借りたいだけと言うなら、すぐ部屋に行って寝ろ！よく考えるんだ、お前が自己中だってことを。俺はそんなだだを認めるために働いてるんじゃないんだからな！！”

息子は静かに部屋に戻りドアを閉めた。
父は座り、息子がした質問に怒りがこみ上げてきた。いったいどうして、息子はただお金がほしいがためだけに、あんな質問をしたのか。
1時間くらいたってから、父は冷静になり、考え始めた。
（そうだ、きっと息子には50ドルでどうしてもほしいものがあったに違いない。お金をほしいだなんてほとんど言わない子だ。）
父は息子の部屋に行った。

父: “もう寝たかな”

息子: “いいや、起きてるよ、とーちゃん”.
父: “ずっと考えてたんだ。俺は少し言い過ぎたかもしれない。もう怒ってないよ。ほら、お前のほしがってた50ドルだよ。”

息子はそれを受け取り、笑った。
息子: “やった！ありがとう、とーちゃん！”
そして、息子は枕に近づき、枕元からさらにお金を取り出した。
息子はもうすでにお金を持っていたのだ。それをみた父は再び怒りがこみ上げてきた。
息子はゆっくりお金を数えている。そして、父を見上げた。

父: “なんでお前はお金を持っているのにまだほしがったんだ？”

息子: “だって、足りなかったから。でも、今そろったよ！”

“とーちゃん、僕は今、100ドル持ってるよ。これでとーちゃんの1時間を買わせてくれない？明日早く帰ってきてよ！いっしょにご飯が食べたいんだ！！”

父は衝撃をうけた。息子に抱きかかえ、そして許しを願った。

これは仕事に多忙な人のためのちょっとした備忘録。愛する人、貴方の心の近くにいる人を大事にしないですごしてはいけない。100ドルの価値で愛する家族と過ごせることを覚えておいて。貴方がもし明日死んでも、会社は代わりをすぐにみつけてしまう。しかし、家族や友達は、貴方がいなくなった後の生活でも喪失感を持ってくれる。そういうわけで、私たちは仕事ではなく家族に自身をささげるんだ。

それが大事なんだ。
